Inspiration:
I enjoy playing with oblique angles and skewed perspective to indicate movement and unusual points of view. âAloftâ places the viewer underneath the hot air balloons as they ascend into the clouds. The amazing art of M.C. Escher and Giovanni Piranesi was my inspiration for this print. The tonal areas of the clouds were created by brushing acid onto the copper plate before inking. I added various colors using watercolor and colored pencil. Because of the hand coloring, each print in this edition is somewhat different in color.
